The Mindoro State University Innovative Business Incubator for Biosystems Engineering Solutions (MinSU – iBIBES) was established on August 15, 2024, under the funding of the Higher Education Institution Readiness for Innovation and Technopreneurship (HeIRIT) Program of the Philippine Council for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development (PCIEERD), and Mindoro State University.

MinSU IBIBES aims to assist students, researchers, alumni, and entrepreneurs in producing innovative biosystems solutions. Its focus includes transforming biowastes into new raw materials, products, and bioenergy; food innovation; smart agriculture and fisheries; and leveraging technology to address community problems. The incubator provides comprehensive support, including prototyping services, mentorship, infrastructure, business registration assistance, seed funding, and market access.

The project is implemented by Mindoro State University, headed by Dr. Enya Marie D. Apostol (SUC President III), and is led by its Technology Business Incubator (TBI) manager, Engr. Randy A. Joco. The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) MIMAROPA serves as the cooperating and monitoring agency

The spotlight was on next-generation innovation as the MinSU i-BIBES Demo Day 2025 transformed the MMC Auditorium into a hub of entrepreneurial energy and forward-thinking solutions on August 29. The event gathered students, faculty members, business owners, and entrepreneurs, all bringing with them groundbreaking ideas designed to address pressing community challenges.

Among the distinguished panel of evaluators and guests were DOST-Oriental Mindoro Provincial Director Jesse M. Pine and Gabutero Organic Farm Owner Nelson B. Gabutero Sr., joined by Engr. Rogelio D. Madarcos (DAR PARPO II), Keenan Comia (Managing Director of plip. ph), Engr. Delfin Cuevas (CEO of Palatak Seeder), and Engr. Joseph Amiel Camingal (President of Hive Energy PH). Adding depth to the program, Rachel B. Montero, Senior Science Research Specialist from PSTO Oriental Mindoro DOST, also delivered an insightful presentation on the DOST iHUBS initiative.

The competition highlighted an impressive mix of participants – from ambitious students and dedicated faculty researchers to seasoned entrepreneurs – all pitching their startup ventures with the hope of earning recognition, securing investments, and turning their concepts into sustainable solutions. The atmosphere was electric with anticipation as each team took the stage to present their innovations.

What made this Demo Day especially significant was its focus on four banner programs: Food Innovation, Biowaste Conversion, IoT for Sustainable Communities, and Smart Agriculture and Fisheries. Each showcased project was anchored on these pillars, proving how innovation can create meaningful and lasting impact in vital sectors of development.

For the incubatees, the event marked the culmination of their hard work, creativity, and determination. More than just a competition, it was a rare opportunity to transform ideas into opportunities, connect with potential investors, and contribute solutions that empower communities and inspire regional progress.
